If you read my post Herb Garden in a Flower Pot you will know that I am definitely in need of some inspiration for the garden in my new house (though the whole buying process takes so long it feels like it is never going to happen!) . So when the opportunity to visit Garden Show Ireland presented itself I jumped at the chance.
Knowing Lewis’ love of all things to do with vehicles, I thought he might enjoy a visit to the Shanes Castle May Day Steam Rally.
We were not disappointed there were enough steam engines and vintage vehicles to keep everyone happy. I found it really hard to imagine these vehicles once travelling through the country, providing haulage and working in agriculture.
By a chance of fate we found ourselves 10 miles outside Bangor on Easter Monday, and knowing it’s reputation as a seaside town I suggested we take a little drive to see what we could find. Had I known they had an Easter fun day in full swing, I would have been more prepared. As it was we spent about an hour stuck in traffic trying to find a parking space. Not the best start, but we were determined to have a good time! We fought our way through the jostling crowds down to the quieter harbour. Having never been here before I have to say the scene was beautiful. I could have been standing on a pier in France, had I not known better.
There is a pretty good chance that many Mothers, like myself, would like nothing better than to go away by themselves for the day as a treat on Mothering Sunday. Imagine a days shopping, spa treatment, dinner and a show in the evening. Doesn’t that sound wonderful! Wonderful but unlikely, especially if you have small children! Though if you have small children a day in bed might hold more appeal than any outing!
