Recent Chick Flick Picks

Chick Flicks

Hello there. In my last post I said I would share with you some of the films I have been enjoying lately. Since Easter and the school holidays are upon us, and all you busy mums out there will be able to stay up late watching films, I thought you might get some inspiration from my recent Chick Flick Picks.

I just want to add, that these films are not necessarily just for the girls. Mr C and I quite often like watch a film together on weekends. He has seen, and dare I say, enjoyed many of my choices! Much of our viewing is streamed and we would love a Panasonic 4K TV  to do so on, rather than straining to see the laptop! But enough about us! Here are some of the best films I have watched recently, on Amazon Film and Netflix.

Netflix Picks

Saving Mr Banks: I loved this film! A retelling of the author of Mary Poppins agreeing to let Walt Disney make a film of the book. It was really heart-warming and I spent an entire week singing ‘A spoonful of sugar’, after I watched it.

Walk of Shame: Admittedly I didn’t expect much from this film. I thought it might be a little unnecessarily inappropriate.  I was thrilled to be wrong. It was funny in all the right places and told the tale of a news reporter’s adventures, whilst trying to get back to the studio, after an unexpected one night stand.

Labor Day: This film also was unexpected. All about a woman and her son who agree to give a stranger a ride. Of course, trouble was at hand, but the film was actually very gentle and romantic. Sometimes, the bad guys aren’t so bad after all…

The Best of Me: Although this wouldn’t be my favourite, it is still worth a watch. After years apart, two childhoods sweethearts find themselves re-united… but will sparks still fly? Well.. I won’t ruin it for you, but it makes a sweet love story.

Amazon Picks

The Town: This film definitely has appeal for the men, with cops and robbers being the main theme. However, alongside this runs a love story. I don’t want to give away the storyline, but sometimes the bad guys, well… let’s just say love doesn’t always conquer all.

The Duff: This is an old one, but it is worth a watch. I am quite glad I didn’t watch it when I was a school girl, as I’m not sure my teenage hormones would have found it quite so amusing. As an adult it made me feel better about growing older, while making me laugh out loud.

Bridesmaids: If you are actually getting married then I advise you not to watch this. For everyone else, if you haven’t seen it, you should. This film could make you pee your pants, while actually showing just how emotional being a bridesmaid can be.

Hope Floats: I had to include this film. I had to include Sandra Bullock. She is one of my all time favourite actresses. Released quite a few years ago, this film tells of a woman who has been humiliated and disappointed by her husband. Can she ever love again? Guess? IMG_0504
