Catch Up with My Days – December 2016

Hello hello hello!!! And Happy New Year! I do apologise for my absence on the blog over the last while. I  do have an excuse though – I returned to work. So no more lazing around watching day time t.v. No more spontaneous outings. My life is now run with military precision. Well… that might be an exaggeration, but it will be, just as soon as I get organised. If that is even possible as a working mum? I’m going to give it a try anyway!

I had considered giving up my blog, but I’ve decided I’m not quite ready to let my little corner of cyber space go. So, if you are not thoroughly fed up of Christmas yet, I thought I would share some of the things I enjoyed the most!

To kick off the festivities, we went to visit Santa at Hillside Nursery Centre. They had a ‘holding area’ where the kids got to play in Mrs Claus’ kitchen, or make cards with some elves. (So no standing about in a queue hurrah!) Then the kids were called to meet Santa himself. They were very pleased with themselves to discover they were on Santa’s nice list.

We went Christmas tree shopping in the rain, again, which seems to be becoming a bit of a tradition in itself! This year we went to MileBurn Christmas Tree Farm, and it is definitely the best tree we have had yet!

I also had a bit of a family gathering on Christmas Eve, where I successfully cooked and served up Christmas dinner for 16 people. I call it a success as no one got food poisoning, although there were some things that could have been improved. My timings were a bit off, as Santa decided to call in unexpectedly, while doing his final rounds. And no matter what you say, Santa is magic. My kids went from running round the house like mad men, to sitting quietly in less than 30 seconds. I only wish I had Santa on speed dial!

New Year was a quiet affair, as I was pretty much exhausted by then. The decorations and tree came down on New Year’s Day, and the house now looks naked and feels empty. I always find that after Christmas. Don’t you?

So a rather belated Happy New Year 2017 to all my readers. I can’t wait to see what new adventures this year will bring!
