Happy 1st Birthday My Days NI!!
I feel like I should get you a present! A new computer, camera or graphic designer perhaps? (Don’t worry Mr C, I’m only kidding!)
It feels like much more than a year ago that I set up my blog. A blog about how I spend My Days here in Northern Ireland. The things my wee family get up to, and, as it turned out, quite a bit of rambling.
I’m not quite sure what I expected, but boy, there is a whole lot more to blogging than I anticipated. I figured that much out pretty quickly. So much so, that a mere two weeks after publishing my first post, a recipe for fifteens, I then wrote one called Does Blogging About Your Life Stop You From Living? What I said then, pretty much still applies now!
The reason I decided to write this anniversary post is basically to say Thank You. Thank You to the many, many other bloggers who have answered my legal, IT and moral blogging queries.
Thank You to those who have read my blog, be it once or regularly.
Thank You to those who have left words of encouragement, praise, banter, or just a little thumbs up.
I’m not sure what the future holds for My Days NI. I have tried lots of different things in the past year, hoping I would find a style and niche I wanted to stick with. It hasn’t happened yet, and maybe it won’t. My life doesn’t fit in a certain box or category so why would my blog?
It’s not all roses here in blog land. The cheeky requests from businesses are never ending. The technology moves faster than a rocket – it’s all about vlogging and Instagram now you know. And although on the whole, the blogging community is a very supportive group, when you look closely, it is full of little pockets of ‘clicks’, and people squabbling, which sometimes is a little too reminiscent of the school playground for my liking.
Of course, no-one is making me blog. I don’t ask it to pay any bills. I haven’t really tried to make money. I’ve accepted a few items to review over the past year. Mostly books as I genuinely find it very hard to say no to a new book. I honestly do it because I enjoy it. It is one of the few things other than doing housework, where I can say, ‘This is my time. This is mine.’
I have ‘virtually’ met some amazingly talented bloggers, who excel at what they do. People who can make me laugh, cry and inspire me every day. Thank You!
Thank You everyone, and again, Happy 1st Birthday My Days NI.
I am excited to see where the next year leads us, and I hope my lovely readers will stick around for the journey!
