I love watermelons. Their gentle sweetness and slight crunch make them the perfect snack for a hot summer day. They are however quite huge, and I wanted to try something different, so I decided to create some watermelon drinks recipes, based on whatever ingredients I had at home.
I came up with 3 different drinks, and each one was delicious! For each drink I had already de-seeded the watermelon, and removed the fruit from the skin. Here they are:
Super simple, I’ve named this a Melon Cucumber Breeze. Take about 1 cup of watermelon fruit and blend with about 1/4 of a peeled cucumber. Pour over ice into a tall tumbler. This drink has a little bit of substance to it, and a really fresh taste.
For this I blended about 1/2 cup of watermelon fruit, with 2 chopped mint leaves. I then put it in the freezer and stirred it occasionally until it started to crystallise. (About an hour.) A quick stir and it was ready to eat. The mint gave this a really cooling blast. Perfect for hot sunny days!
This beauty is an alcoholic cocktail! In a standard sized martini glass I added 20ml of peach snapps and 20ml of vodka. I then blended about 3/4 of a cup of watermelon fruit and then sieved it to remove the pulp. The result is a smooth, fruity and very subtle cocktail! I will definitely be making these again!
And there you have it! Three super simple watermelon drinks recipes! If you have any other ideas you can let me and everyone else know about them by adding them in the comments. Or catch me over on my social media pages! I’d love to hear from you!
