Hello, hello! I know I have fallen out of my usual blogging routine, but this past couple of weeks has been busier than ever. Though I have actual real progress on the house extension, and pictures to prove it! We have two more bedrooms, and as Mr C would say, we are so pleased as we have had enough of having to walk sideways!
This week saw the completion of Aaron’s room. Well, complete from builders, joiners, etc. The carpets went in and I have started to put in some of the bits and pieces I had planned for his room. I hadn’t planned to put his cot in, but in truth he is happy and safe in it, so until that changes I am going to stick with it. It actually worked out quite well, as he has been really unwell this week so I was able to sleep in his room in the single bed, and keep a close eye on him.
I know pictures speak louder than words, so here are some photos.
The large A is from TK Maxx, toy storage unit from Ikea, striped bedding by John Lewis, and stars bedding by Next. Curtains from Harry Corrys.
I still have lots to do in this room. The walls need some interest, the bed needs a headboard, and I am limited until I take out the cot. So far though, everyone is pleased with the room.
The master bedroom has also been carpeted so we decided to move in. There is still some wallpaper to go on, and I have asked the joiner to make some wardrobes, so it will be quite a few weeks until the room is free from workmen. We decide to move in anyway, and already prefer it much better than the living room!
The room is still very much a blank canvas. I haven’t entirely decided how I’m going to add interest to it, but I wanted to see how the space felt first. there is definitely going to be some subtle pink shades, but that is as far as I have got in the decision making process. I decided that since I am completely outnumbered by boys, I am allowed to go feminine in the bedroom. We’ll just have to see how this pans out…
And now that the living room is a living room we have bee enjoying our new fireplace. The previous chimney breast was hideous old stone with just an opening for a fire. We found this cast iron inset and surround on gumtree and had it fitted. It’s really eclectic but I love it. I would much rather have a little bit weird than boring! The whole wall has been re-skimmed, so soon I’ll be able to start the paint work in the living room.
And that is mostly what I have been up to this last few weeks. Hopefully the house is really going to start to take shape over the next few months, and I’ll be sure to keep you up-dated.
See you all later!
