Graham and Brown Collection

Decorating with Graham and Brown

Now that my building work is progressing nicely, I have purchased nearly everything I need in terms of fixtures and fittings. This means I can start to turn my mind to the more exciting task of choosing decorative items! In fact, when Graham and Brown offered to help me out it meant I had to do just that!

Graham and Brown are renowned for their innovative and diverse range of wallpaper, so I figured what better than to choose some for my new bedroom.

Of course when I looked at the website I couldn’t choose. I knew I wanted a French Country theme to fit with the furniture I already own, but I hadn’t yet decided on colours.  I felt the best solution would be to go to the French countryside and look for inspiration! Mr C disapproved of this idea so I had to settle for just ‘countryside’.

The local landscape did not let me down and I came back with a slip of cherry blossom. The petals were such a pale pink, and they were falling off the branch so gently, I knew this encapsulated what I wanted. A light airy space with gentle additions of colour. Somewhere to relax and chill out! I produced a little colour palette and the plan is to stick with the gentle pastels and add little pops of the deeper colours, perhaps by adding fresh flowers or little accessories to the room.

And when I started searching the Graham and Brown website again I found the exact wallpaper I wanted. Soft pink cherry blossom. Apparently this design is also supposed to bring good fortune, so I decided it was a keeper! It will look great behind our bed, with the other walls painted in a light shade.

Now, I haven’t actually put the paper on the walls yet, due to the fact the bedroom is still a building site! In these pictures Mr C is doing a grand job of balancing on the bed and holding the paper behind our bedside table! In fact, I would say it is a testament to the quality of the paper that you cannot tell this from the photographs. The paper is thick and textured, and actually feels more like fabric than paper! Some of the petals on the paper have also been lightly dusted with glitter. I’m sure when the sun hits these petals the light will reflect off them, adding more interest to the paper, but in a gentle subtle way.

I’m so excited! Now I have chosen a colour palette and paper I can start to pick up other accessories as I find them. In fact Graham and Brown also do paint and home accessories, and they have some pieces which would fit in perfectly with my theme! Such as these:
